Wostok (Восто́к) is Russian for East and probably best known from the Vostok Programme, the Soviet human spaceflight project. The namesake watchmaker is older than that because it was founded during the Second World War when one of the watch making plants of the First Moscow Watch Factory (whose flagship brand was Poljot) had to evacuate to Christopol in 1942. The Boctok, Vostok, or Wostok brand is perhaps best known for their rugged diving watches, namely the Vostok Amphibia, of which we have one in stock and another one on its way in, so stay tuned!
This watch was made in the USSR and has a beautiful metallic gold/black shaded dial. As you can see in the picture above, age has caused hairline cracks to appear in the dial paint, causing a really nice effect which enhances the overall impression of this vintage piece; it’s that type of patina that can’t be faked. Fitted on a very on-trend stainless steel mesh bracelet.
