Vostok (Восто́к) is Russian for East and probably best known from the Vostok Programme, the Soviet human spaceflight project. The namesake watchmaker is older than that because it was founded during the Second World War when one of the watch making plants of the First Moscow Watch Factory (whose flagship brand was Poljot) had to evacuate to Christopol in 1942. The Boctok, Vostok, or Wostok brand is perhaps best known for their rugged diving watches, namely the Vostok Amphibia, of which we have enjoyed a few of in the past.
This watch was made in the USSR and has a very strong movement with great winding action. What we love about this watch is the... well everything! The placement of the subdial, the placement of the winding crown, the colour, the brand and the shark mesh bracelet. It's just so unusual in every respect. This watch looks like something from a steampunk novel.
This watch comes in a high quality German-made very practical travel case, certificate of authenticity and one year warranty from Arlington watches.
