Doxa is a brand of Swiss watches maybe best known for their brightly coloured diving watches, appreciated by collectors and considerably more expensive than dress watches of the same brand.
Vintage dress watches by Doxa are still affordable but expected to go up in value as they are gaining momentum among the community of collectors and hence getting increasingly hard to find.
This Doxa has a stunning white/silver/silk dial with a very fine radial texture. Apart from a tiny dot close to the 2 o clock marker it is spotless.
The gold hands and applied hour markers are perfect. The gold plated case is showing minimal signs of wear and is in very good condition.
The crown is unsigned. The case back has an inscription, which gives a bit of history to this watch. Crystal is scratch-free.
This old Doxa has a beautiful case shape. It is chrome plated with a stainless steel screw-down case back. The case sides are pretty beat up. The dial has obvious signs of age. That said, it is a good wearer with ample case size and weight, good balance on your wrist and a clean design.
The movement is clean and running strong with an amplitue of 197 degrees and it has good power reserve. It ticks 18,000 times per hour and gains approximately 60-90 seconds per day. The winding action is great. This is a vintage watch and while it has passed our testing, it must be taken into account that it is a vintage watch and its performance is not to be compared to modern quartz watches.
This watch comes fitted on a black leather strap and comes packed in a high-quality German made travel case together with a a certificate of authenticity from Arlington watches.
