Rolex is arguably the world's strongest brand, across all categories. It is immediately recognised and associated with success and luxury – a status symbol for the rich and famous. While this may not be the reason to own a Rolex, it does mean that the second-hand value of a well-preserved Rolex is unbeatable. We have seen many models appreciate in value over the years.
And Rolex make fantastic watches! This Datejust we have for sale is a COSC certified watch, which means that it lives up to the standard required to have the Chronometer marking on the dial. It winds automatically it keeps time very, very well.
The Datejust is one of the most classic Rolex designs, and there have been a few variations over the years. It was first released on the jubilee celebration in 1945 on the 40th anniversary of the Rolex corporation. This is how the Jubilee bracelet got its name. In later years, Datejusts have come on various bracelets, and on the second-hand market you'll find examples fitted on leather straps, but the Jubilee is the most historically correct bracelet for a Datejust. And it is super comfortable on your wrist. The Datejust we have here for sale comes on its original Jubilee bracelet, complete with all the links.
The bezel of this Ref 16200 Datejust is smooth which lets it fly under the radar and gives a more understated look compared to the Datejusts with fluted bezels (with ridges) which is common on the more flashy, particularly the two-tone gold/silver Datejust models. Nothing wrong with them, just a different look.
The magnifying cyclops date window is an instantly recognisable Rolex signum. In contrast to the date complication on many other watches, where they have tried to hide the date, the Datejust proudly magnifies it. Perhaps because the Datejust was the first watch with a date that automatically switched over at midnight. The cyclops is made out of the same scratch resistant sapphire as the rest of the crystal.
This watch has had one previous owner who bought the watch in 1995 and has totally babied it since. This watch has not been worn much. Never polished, tiny hair string scratches from use but nothing that's visible without close inspection. The word immaculate has been used too many times to describe watches, but this watch is just that ... immaculate.
What we have here for sale is a full set. Not just "box & papers" but a complete set with the Rolex warranty, chronometre certification, all booklets, tags, bracelet links, inner box and outer box.
