The Omega Seamaster reference 166.078 has been dubbed both 'The Giant' and 'Anakin Skywalker', both of which are very suitable names for this unusual Omega model. The imposing dimensions and sheer weight of the case gives this watch an impressive wrist presence. The force will certainly be with you while wearing it!
Interestingly, the futuristic looking stainless steel case is Tungsten treated for improved resistance. This is an unusual and technically interesting watch which in our opinion one of the best designs from the most creative era in the history of watches; the 1970's.
This distinctive and attractive timepiece is in close to mint condition with only very minor signs of wear and ageing - despite its age it still feels like a new watch.
The calibre 565 automatic movement has been recently serviced and the watch is performing well in all respects and keeping good time. It has a quick-set date complication that is operated by repeatedly pumping the crown down from the date set position.
The watch comes fitted on a deep brown tapered rally style strap from the premium strap manufacturer Corfam. The shape and texture of this high quality genuine leather strap complements the case and overall looks of the watch perfectly.
This watch is over 40 years old and while it has passed our testing and does keep time and has a good power reserve, it must be taken into account that it is a vintage watch and its accuracy is not to be compared to modern quartz watches.
This watch comes in a zipped and padded high-quality travel case. The original Omega box which has obvious signs of wear due to its old age is also included. We sell this watch on behalf of a customer and can for this reason not give a one-year warranty, but as always the watch may be returned for a refund within a 14 days cooling off period.
