The Sistem51 is a watch worth owning purely for its horological significance.
Swatch was the brand of watches that revolutionised the Swiss Watch making industry and led it out of the so-called Quartz Crisis in the early 1980's. The name Swatch is an acronym for Second Watch and the watches were plastic, with a low-cost quartz movement, and came in an endless variation of colour combinations - for the first time consumers should consider owning not just one, but also a second watch.
Thanks to Swatch, Switzerland regained its position as the leading watchmaking nation.
Then, at Baselworld 2013, Swatch did something completely unexpected when they presented the Sistem51 as "the world's first mechanical movement with entirely automated assembly." It is made out of 51 components, is specced to have an incredibly 90 hours power reserve, and is built by robots! How cool is that.
The design of this watch makes it near impossible to service. The case is completely sealed. It will be interesting to see how long these watches will live. This example is 100% functional and is keeping good time but we cannot offer the usual one-year warranty on this watch.

This watch comes in a generic black presentation box, certificate of authenticity and one year warranty from Arlington watches.
